Synopsis For High Island To Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 Nm
As high pressure shifts off to the east...southeast winds should resume across the region late Sunday. Winds will remain at light to moderate levels keeping fairly low seas in place. Hurricane Ike is expected to make it into the southeastern Gulf Monday night and Tuesday. Winds will gradually back to the east and northeast toward midweek as the hurricane makes it further into the Gulf. Assuming no major changes with the eventual forecast track or intensity...higher period swells associated with Ike could begin making their way into the Texas coastal waters Wednesday night with heights gradually increasing Thursday and Friday.
