Tropical cyclone Hanna moving up the eastern Seaboard is forecast

to reach New Jersey coastal waters this evening. Please refer to

the latest forecasts and advisories from the National Hurricane

Center. Weak high pressure is expected to build over the region in

the wake of the storm Sunday and continue Monday. A cold front

from the northwest is slated to move through the region Tuesday.

Another high pressure system will build into the region Wednesday.

Se winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts to near 35 kt... increasing to 35 to 40 kt with gusts to 50 kt toward evening. Seas 6 to 9 ft. Periods of rain and isolated tstms with vsby frequently 1 nm or less.

Se winds 35 to 45 kt with gusts to 55 kt...becoming W 20 to 30 with gusts to 40 kt after midnight. Seas 8 to 13 ft... subsiding to 7 to 10 ft after midnight. Showers with an isolated tstm in the evening.

W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt...diminishing to 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas 5 to 8 ft...subsiding to 4 to 6 ft in the afternoon.

... New information...

At 1100 am EDT... the center of Tropical Storm Hanna was about
180 miles southwest of Fenwick Island Delaware and 250 miles
southwest of Atlantic City New Jersey.

... Areas affected...

This statement recommends actions to be taken by persons on the
Atlantic coastal waters off Delaware and New Jersey and on Delaware
Bay.

... Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Small craft should remain in port today. Boat owners should check
their moorings.

... Waves...

The waves are forecast to reach 11 to 14 feet today at the
Delaware Bay buoy... 20 miles offshore. Waves along the beaches of
Delaware and New Jersey are expected to break in the range of 5 to
8 feet.

... Winds...

Sustained winds of tropical storm force... greater than 34 knots with
gust up to 55 knots... are possible this afternoon and lasting well
into this evening.

Tropical Storm Hanna could produce wind gusts similar to those of
the mothers day storm back in may.

... Probability of hurricane/tropical storm conditions...

For this afternoon there is a 70 to 90 percent chance of
sustained tropical storm force winds... 34 knots or greater... over
Atlantic coastal waters and over Delaware Bay.
