Synopsis
A frontal boundary across central Florida is forecast to move south across the South Florida coastal waters through tonight with ridge of high pressure gradually building behind it through the first half of next week. Ahead of the front...strong southwesterly winds can be expected today...shifting to the west northwest behind the front on Saturday and Sunday. Occasional showers with some thunderstorms are forecast for through today with conditions drying out for the weekend.

Near shore...northeast winds 5 to 8 knots becoming east 7 to 11 knots. In the Gulf Stream...east winds 11 to 16 knots becoming 8 to 13 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers and chance of thunderstorms.

Near shore...southwest winds 10 to 15 knots becoming west 14 to 19 knots...seas 2 to 3 feet. Well offshore...southwest winds 12 to 17 knots becoming west 19 to 24 knots...seas 2 to 4 feet building to 3 to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Near shore...west winds 13 to 17 knots...seas 2 to 3 feet. Well offshore...west winds 17 to 22 knots becoming 14 to 19 knots...seas 3 to 5 feet subsiding to 2 to 4 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.

20 nm
coastal waters from Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef, FL out 20 nm
waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, FL extending from
20 nm to 60 nm
waters from Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef, FL extending from
20 nm to the territorial waters of the Bahamas
coastal waters from East Cape Sable to Chokoloskee, FL out 20 nm

Tornadoes... hail to penny inches in diameter... thunderstorm wind gusts to
60 mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.

Remember... a Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes in and
close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.

waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach FL from 20 to 60 nm
coastal waters from Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef FL out 20 nm
Biscayne Bay

* until 445 PM EST

* at 309 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
line of thunderstorms... capable of producing strong winds of 34
knots or greater from 10 nm east of Surfside to 28 nm west of
Convoy Point... from 10 nm east of Surfside to 15 nm east of Big
Lostmans Bay... moving east at 30 knots.

* These strong thunderstorms will also affect

Virginia Key...
Coral Gables...
Cape Florida...
Convoy Point...
Soldier Key...

and surrounding coastal areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

As thunderstorms move over the water... severe gusty winds in excess
of 50 knots are possible along with high waves... dangerous
lightning... heavy rain... and possibly large hail. Move to safe Harbor
or stay close to shore until the storm passes. If caught on the open
water... make sure all safety gear is available and life jackets are
being worn by you and your crew.
