A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 am EST
Friday.

* Areas affected: southeast Virginia and northeast North
Carolina.

* Hazards: sleet and snow and freezing rain.

* Timing: sleet and snow... possible mixing with freezing rain at
times. Precipitation ending by midnight.

* Accumulation: less than one inch snow and sleet accumulations.

* Temperatures: falling into the upper 20s.

* Winds: north 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

* Impacts: roads will become sleet covered by early evening.
Visibility will drop to around one half mile at times this
evening... making travel dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibility... and use caution while
driving.

... Areas of black ice tonight and early Friday...

Temperatures will quickly drop into the teens to around 20 degrees
after midnight. This will allow areas of slush and water to refreeze
into ice overnight making for slippery conditions on roads and
sidewalks through Friday morning. Anyone planning to venture out
should be alert for areas of ice especially near bridges and
overpasses as well as along secondary roads.
