Synopsis...a dry and stable west to northwest flow aloft will 
prevail across the Great Basin through the remainder of the 
weekend. Moisture will gradually increase across the region early 
next week.

Discussion...northwesterly flow aloft across the region will 
gradually back to westerly and weaken over the next 24-48 
hours...as middle level ridge develops over the Desert 
Southwest...and a weak shortwave trough develops along the West 
Coast. This will allow moisture to gradually spread northward 
Monday and Tuesday...resulting in an increasing chance for high 
based convection. Have leaned toward GFS solution for middle- 
week...which drops a shortwave trough through the northern rockies 
and just east of the forecast area late Tuesday through Wednesday. 
Sufficient moisture should remain across the area ahead of this 
trough to allow for a small chance of convection again Wednesday 
afternoon...before the airmass dries out again late in the week.

Aviation...VFR conditions to persist at kslc throughout the day. 
Northerly winds are expected to switch to a southerly drainage 
wind by 03z.
