Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Norman OK
231 PM CDT Sat Jul 5 2008

Discussion...weak surface boundary which was evident across the
forecast area earlier today has continued to weaken and has lifted NE of the
area. With abundant sun and return to southerly low level flow temperatures
are running above readings at this time yesterday. Although an
isolated shower or thunderstorm can not be ruled out this evening...with
lack of surface focus and no support aloft will leave forecast
dry. Upper ridge center is expected to migrate eastward Sunday and
Monday with dry hot conditions expected to continue. Weak short wave
trough will move slowly eastward from The Rockies into the Central Plains
early in the week with frontal boundary drifting southward toward the
forecast area. Thus will keep trend of previous forecast with thunderstorm
chances in the northwest Monday night and into most of the forecast area Tuesday.
Will continue precipitation chances through midweek as surface boundary
lingers in the area and weak upper trough moves little. By latter
part of the week upper ridge begins to build in from the southeast with
warmer temperatures and diminishing rain chances for the forecast area.
