NWS Forecaster Discussion
935 fxus64 kshv 050835 afdshv Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Shreveport la 335 am CDT Sat Jul 5 2008 Discussion... Summertime pattern with 500 mb high pressure and a touch of humidity that will result in diurnal convection for the next several days. A middle week disturbance in around the northern edge of the ridge will increase convection somewhat...going 30 percent northwest on Wednesday and northern third on Thursday. Then the ridge resumes control and shuts down most convection for the very late week. /17/ && Aviation... Surface observations indicate VFR conditions across most of the forecast region...with the exception of deq which is experiencing IFR conditions due to fog. Expect that this fog is only an isolated occurrence...but a few locations will experience reduction in visibility this morning to the 3sm to 5sm range due to misty conditions. Cloud cover across much of the region should act to limit visibility reduction around sunrise. Expect another round of spotty convection this afternoon and evening as a frontal boundary is positioned to the north of the forecast region...and seabreeze activity affects the southern airports. /18/ && Preliminary point temps/pops... shv 93 73 94 73 / 10 10 20 10 mlu 93 72 92 72 / 20 20 20 20 deq 92 70 93 70 / 20 20 10 10 txk 93 73 94 74 / 10 10 10 10 eld 94 71 93 71 / 20 20 20 10 tyr 92 73 93 74 / 10 10 10 10 ggg 93 72 94 72 / 10 10 10 10 lfk 93 71 94 72 / 20 20 20 10 && Shv watches/warnings/advisories...
