Short term... 
nice Holiday weekend will continue today with mostly sunny skies as 
h50 ridge nudges slightly eastward into the Southern Plains from the 
southern rockies. This will result in a tad warmer temperatures with most 
locations cracking the 90 degree mark on The Caprock and middle 90s over 
the rolling plains. Storm chances look very minimal with increased 
subsidence and drier atmosphere...but not totally out of the 
question that a storm or two could form along edge of Caprock over 
the southern Panhandle in slightly enhanced low level convergence 
zone. Sge. 


Long term... 
latest model runs suggest expansion of western U.S. Ridge aloft 
may be delayed and not as pronounced. Nevertheless...weakness in 
the middle/upper levels over the southern High Plains still expected 
by middle week in wake of early week shortwave tracking over the 
northern/central U.S. Meanwhile...models still indicate that 
shortwave will help drive cold front south into the area as early 
as Tuesday afternoon providing increased low-level convergence/focus 
for rain showers/thunderstorms and rain development. Inherited grids/forecast looks good. 
Made only minor adjustments...mainly lowering maximum temperatures a 
couple of degrees during middle week due to cloud cover and chance of 
thunderstorms and rain. Jh.
