NWS Forecaster Discussion
024 fxus64 kohx 050725 afdohx Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Nashville Tennessee 225 am CDT Sat Jul 5 2008 Discussion... at 06z surface front extends from about Bowling Green Kentucky down across bootheel of Missouri then draped across northern Arkansas. A narrow tongue of higher precipitable water (1.7 inches) extends from Gulf region northward through central and northern Alabama...then up Interstate 65 and then is skewed into northeastern Kentucky. Good upper level (300 mb) divergence is evident across east half of Tennessee and a good part of Alabama. Showers and thunderstorms have been pretty much associated with this difflurence region and moist tongue. Drier air is beginning to work in across far western Tennessee from Missouri. Surface front will crawl into middle state during the day and may pull up stationary at some point this afternoon. So will keep probability of precipitation running all areas except far northwest where drier air is beginning to work into (see latest water vapor loop). Will keep a small pop south and east on Sunday but dont expect much of anything north half. Monday and Monday night look basically dry at this time. Looks like a chance for showers/thunderstorms just about each day beginning on Tuesday. Expect to see some patchy fog later this morning so will keep a check on this. Dont think it will reach advisory criteria. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
