918 fxus64 kmrx 201850 aaa afdmrx Area forecast discussion...updated National Weather Service Morristown Tennessee 250 PM EDT Wednesday Aug 20 2008 Short term (tonight and tomorrow)... very little change in the overall weather pattern is expected over the next 24 hours as high pressure remains entrenched over New England and Kay remains nearly stationary over Florida. Scattered cumulus this afternoon will dissipate with sunset...leaving clear skies overnight. Forecast soundings tomorrow indicate continued midlevel stability that will cap convection...along with dry low level air. Leaned toward the warmer GFS MOS temperatures tomorrow as cumulus should remain scattered and downslope flow will enhance warming slightly. Temperatures should be moderated slightly by lower 1000-850 thicknesses and a slightly stronger pressure gradient giving a little more breeze than today. Long term (thursday night through wednesday)... upper ridge remains in place over the eastern U.S. Through Saturday...while models trending towards keeping Fay/S track well to our south. As such... have continued with a dry forecast through Saturday. Confidence quite low through the rest of the extended...especially concerning the movement of the remnants of Fay. Will trend toward GFS which brings the remnants of Fay into the region around Monday night/Tuesday. During this time frame...models also indicated a cold front moving through the area. Will...therefore...keep chance probability of precipitation during this period. As the system begins to pull away from the region on Wednesday...will keep some low probability of precipitation to around 20 percent.
