Short term...tonight through Tuesday...an upper level disturbance 
is moving over the coast. This will spread increasing middle and high 
level clouds over eastern Oregon and Washington this evening...with 
clearing behind the trough after midnight. This disturbance may 
trigger a few showers near the Cascades...but the models show it 
stretching out and weakening as it moves east of the Cascades. The 
infrared and water vapor satellites already show the stretching out. Radar 
composites have only scattered light showers on the west side...so 
there is no reason to expect many showers will cross the Cascades. 
Sunday through Tuesday a Flat Ridge will build over the Pacific 
northwest. Increasing subsidence and flat dry westerly flow aloft 
will bring clear skies...generally light winds...and a slow warming 
trend. Coonfield 


Long term...Tuesday night through Saturday...a dry and stable 
weather pattern will prevail throughout the period. However there 
will be weak upper troughs from time to time in the flow beginning 
Thursday night. These troughs are only expected to cause some middle 
and high clouds. However...despite the increase in clouds conditions 
will remain very dry with low relative humidity Thursday night 
through Saturday. Temperatures are expected to continue heating up 
through Wednesday and then cool off again beginning Thursday with 
the incoming weak upper troughs. 88

Aviation...VFR conditions will prevail through at least the next 24 
hours. Winds will increase to 10 to 20 kts in areas from the Blue 
Mountain foothills westward and northward during the daytime 
hours...and then become light...generally under 10 kts...after 
sunset tonight and Saturday night. Scattered middle to high level 
clouds will also decrease late tonight as high pressure begins to 
rebuild over the region. 88
