At 2:58 PM...National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms lifting north- northeast through the area ahead of an upper level disturbance. The bulk of the activity was concentrated across far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Through 4:30 PM...occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue across the area. Locations which will be most affected include those generally along and east of a Vinita to lake Eufaula to Clayton line. West of this line the coverage will be much more isolated with only short lived showers expected. One tenth of an inch or less of additional accumulation will be common during this time. Isolated higher amounts up to 1 inch will be possible with the heavier showers and where thunderstorms occur.

NWS Forecaster Discussion
444 fxus64 ktsa 212045 afdtsa Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tulsa OK 345 PM CDT Thursday Aug 21 2008 Discussion... scattered showers and thunderstorms across mainly northwest Arkansas and far eastern Oklahoma will mostly dissipate by sunset with the loss of heating. The models have trended towards more ridging over the area during the next week than what they were showing yesterday so diurnal convection should be less numerous than previously thought. Will keep some low probability of precipitation each day through Monday with no mention of rain at night. Diurnal convective chances diminish even further beyond Monday so will continue the dry forecast in the Tuesday through Thursday timeframe. Temperatures will also be a bit warmer with a more dominant upper ridge and will be very near the seasonal normals for the entire forecast period. Will still go a bit cooler than the GFS MOS for daytime maximums and at or above the GFS MOS for minimums the next several days. && Preliminary point temps/pops... tul 72 91 73 91 / 10 10 10 20 fsm 70 91 71 91 / 20 20 10 20 mlc 71 91 72 91 / 10 20 10 20 bvo 67 89 68 89 / 10 10 10 20 fyv 66 87 67 87 / 20 20 10 20 byv 67 87 68 87 / 20 20 10 20 mko 69 91 70 91 / 10 20 10 20 Mio 68 89 69 89 / 20 10 10 20 f10 70 91 71 91 / 10 10 10 20 hhw 70 91 71 91 / 10 20 10 20 && Tsa watches/warnings/advisories...
