regional weather discussion... scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to develop and move across portions of Oklahoma into the early evening... mainly across northern and western Oklahoma. At 515 PM... showers were most numerous in west central and northwest Oklahoma north of a line from Reydon to Elk City to Cordell... and west of a line from Cordell to Custer City to Alva. Other more scattered showers extended from near Kingfisher to Marshall to Perry and Billings in central and north central Oklahoma. The showers were nearly stationary or drifting slowly to the northeast. The heavier showers may produce rainfall over one-half inch per hour... but most areas will receive less. Showers and thunderstorms will remain possible into the evening across portions of northern and western Oklahoma.

NWS Forecaster Discussion
660 fxus64 koun 181919 afdoun Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Norman OK 219 PM CDT Friday Jul 18 2008 Discussion... weak surface convergence along multiple residual surface boundaries will allow a few thunderstorms to develop this afternoon across central and western Oklahoma and western North Texas. Some of this activity will then linger into the early evening across portions of western and northern Oklahoma. Have kept some low probability of precipitation overnight across the north as a very weak disturbance moves out of the central rockies into the plains. Otherwise going into this weekend into early next week models continue to show upper ridge building into Colorado then out into the central and Southern Plains. This will limit rain chances and will see a gradual warming of daytime temperatures across the area. Parts of the area are likely to see afternoon highs near the century mark by early next week. Latest GFS does show a more amplified wave dropping south out of the far northern plains into the Great Lakes region Tuesday into Wednesday of next week. As this occurs another weak surface cold front makes a run at northern OK. This front then tries to back-door further southwest into the area by latter part of next week. Also during this time... moisture increases from the Gulf as a possible tropical system moves across the Gulf into northern Mexico or far southern Texas coast. This all may mean a Little Break in high temperatures and a return of rain chances. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
