NWS Forecaster Discussion
843 fxus64 ktsa 061119 afdtsa Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tulsa OK 619 am CDT sun Jul 6 2008 Aviation... weak high pressure aloft will build into the region today. VFR conditions are expected with 10 to 15 knot south wind today. && Previous discussion... /issued 307 am CDT sun Jul 6 2008/ Discussion... overnight convection in northwest Arkansas has ceased at this hour. There will be a minimal chance of redevelopment in that area today... but not enough to mention in the forecast. Upper high pressure begins to assert itself across the region today. This will translate to hot temperatures... with readings in the middle 90s common. As the high pressure weakens over time... there will be a slight cooling trend during the next few days. Tuesday through Thursday continues to offer the best chances for thunderstorms. Weak northwest flow aloft... and periodic disturbances migrating within the flow will increase the chance for typical summertime convective development. Models currently show strengthening of upper high to our southeast by late week going into next weekend. This should minimize precipitation chances and push temperatures above normal. && Tsa watches/warnings/advisories... OK...none. Arkansas...none. && $$ Short term...99 long term....99 aviation...15
