NWS Forecaster Discussion
085 fxus64 koun 050809 afdoun Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Norman OK 309 am CDT Sat Jul 5 2008 Discussion... upper high will move slowly east from the S rockies to the S plains by Sunday resulting in dry period with seasonably hot days and mild to warm nights into early next week. Upper trough will move into west states Sunday and into High Plains by Monday... eventually remaining over the S plains as a weakness in the subtropical ridge that may linger over or near the area Tuesday through Thursday. This and a weak front sagging into the area... providing weak low- level convergence... is enough to maintain low chances of convection during this time along with slightly lower temperatures. Middle- tropospheric high prognosticated to build west from the Atlantic late next week... with high center relocating to the central Gulf Coast area by end of week per operational GFS with support from ensemble mean. Stronger ridging westward into Texas/OK suggests return to warmer/drier by late week. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
