Update...00z models indicate 4-corners ridge extension west into 
central and Southern California has finished building. 850 mb temperatures only forecast to 
rise another 1-2 degrees/c the next 2 days...so maximum temperatures next 
several days only a few degrees above normal. Monsoon to be held at 
Bay as well as shortwave troughs moving across the Pacific northwest tend to 
keep flow aloft over central California from the SW.

Upper ridge building overhead will provide above normal temperatures 
through early next week. The forecast problem continues to be what 
is the monsoon moisture going to do? The New Run of the GFS is 
considerably drier than previous runs and is keeping the County Warning Area dry 
through Monday. A surge of moisture is forecast to move through on 
Tuesday and Wednesday across the Kern County desert and along the 
Sierra in advance of a strong trough moving onshore and in the 
return flow of a strong SW US ridge. 


Next Wednesday will cool off to near or just below normal again as 
the trough will provide a good push of marine air into the valley. 
At this time...will not make any changes until we see a another 
run of the possible dry conditions. No significant changes were made 
to current forecast and new data is in line with current forecast. 


Will continue the Special Weather Statement for above normal temperatures across the 
region over the new several days and will see how hot the temperatures 
get. At this time the temperatures are not expected to meet advisory 
criteria and do not expect any statements at this time.
