Discussion...middle and upper level moisture continues to advect 
northward early this morning in response to the building ridge 
from the southeast. Deeper moisture is noted over Arizona and 
northwest Mexico and it is pushing to the west. Meanwhile out 
along 30/130w, the remnant moisture from Fausto continues to drift 
northward around the periphery of the ridge and this will need to 
be watched as it just may become entrained into the southwest flow 
along the top of the ridge. For today, it should remain dry over 
the deserts and Sierra, however with the continued northwestward 
push of the ridge and moisture, the threat of thunderstorms over 
the above mentioned areas will certainly increase for Friday and 
Saturday and the current grids have this depicted well. As is the 
case in building ridges, temperatures across the central 
California interior will rise several degrees over the next 3 days 
or so to levels slightly above late July normals, but no extremes 
of heat are expected. Beyond Saturday, the forecast gets quite a 
bit more tricky as the persistent easterly flow of moisture across 
Mexico will likely continue well into next week as forecast models 
keep a ridge over the southern rockies. Any small disturbance 
moving westward in this flow will need to be watched for 
thunderstorm initiation.
