NWS Forecaster Discussion
383 fxus64 klzk 052243 afdlzk Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Little Rock Arkansas 543 PM CDT Sat Jul 5 2008 Aviation... scattered thunderstorms and rain will continue to affect the County Warning Area...before diminishing after 01z. Radar trends indicate that most taf sites will not be affected. MVFR areas due to fog overnight are likely. 55 && Previous discussion... /issued 306 PM CDT Sat Jul 5 2008/ Short term...tonight through Tuesday night nearly stationary boundary across northern Arkansas this afternoon...with scattered convection across central and north central sections. This was enhanced in part with axis of higher moisture values and an upper level disturbance moving through the region. Storms should continue through the evening hours...and then begin to decrease and move east overnight. Have included patchy fog in the grids after midnight due to high amounts of moisture and any rainfall received today. With moisture remaining over the region...have kept isolated probability of precipitation going for Sunday afternoon...but left Monday dry as upper ridge moves over the area. The next front moves into southern Missouri late Tuesday afternoon...with the next appreciable rain chances. Long term...Wednesday through Saturday the extended period starts with the upper trough over the Great Lakes...with a surface low over the northeast U.S. A weakening frontal system has sagged to near northern Arkansas...with chance pop over central and northern Arkansas. The boundary stalls over Arkansas Thursday with a chance or slight chance pop over the area. Then drier Friday as the boundary lifts north and a south to southwest flow sets up over Arkansas. The upper ridge is expected to build back more over the Southern Plains Friday and Saturday. Temperatures start near normal values... but are expected to warm a bit Friday and Saturday as the ridge builds in over the plains. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
