Aviation... 
stratiform precipitation associated with mesoscale convective system is dissipating...leaving VFR 
ceilings at least for a good portion of the evening. Satellite upstream 
shows a band of jet cirrus that may move into the region later 
tonight. However...given today's rainfall and at least some 
clearing...expect MVFR br for a brief period at both sites. Significant 
drying noted on Friday...thus keeping sky clear.

Discussion /issued at 200 PM CDT/... 
strong to severe convection continues to develop 
along/ahead of a weak cold front draped across northern Tennessee this 
afternoon. The front is still xpcted to drift southward later this 
afternoon and this evening with showers/thunderstorms coming to an end. 
High pressure associated with a modified Canadian air mass will 
then move out of the northern plains and toward the southeast region Friday and 
Sat offering a bit of relief from the above normal temperatures over the 
past few days with drier conditions xpcted. By sun...the front 
which moved through the area late Thursday begins to move back toward 
the north as the afc high shifts eastward toward the Atlantic Basin. 


As the new work week begins...the surface high continues to drift eastward 
with the aforementioned front stalling within the vicinity of the Tennessee 
Valley as suggested by HPC forecasts. In addition...the latest GFS 
indicates a second area of high pressure moving into the Ohio Valley 
with an associated front approaching the Tennessee Valley from the north. 
Forecast time heights show moisture increasing across the area 
beginning sun and with the area wedged between the two fronts by 
Monday...slight chance probability of precipitation look reasonable at least for the northern Alabama 
area. Chances for showers/thunderstorms look to increase across the County Warning Area by 
Tuesday as the two fronts merge into a generally stationary boundary 
across the area. 


Past middle week...the stationary boundary looks to get a good surge 
southward as another area of high pressure out of S central Canada 
begins to move southward across the plains states and toward the southeast 
region. This pattern looks to reinforce the slightly cooler air 
across the region which had been originally introduced to the area 
at the start of the weekend period.
